Entered Naval Reserve Community March 1962 in hometown Terre Haute, IN

 

Entered Active Naval Service in January 1963 in Indianapolis, IN

Began Navy service as Machinist Mate Nuclear Program for Submarine Duty.

After completion of two plus years of training was assigned to a Precommissioning detail onboard USS Lewis & Clark SSBN 644. Made four Deterrent Patrols.

Reassigned to another Precommissioning Detail onboard USS Puffer SSN 652 at Litton Shipyard in Pascagoula, MS. Commissioned in August 1969 and transferred to Squadron One in Pearl Harbor, HI to complete sea trials and Navy Demonstration and Shakedown Operations prior to a shipyard maintenance period in Mare Island Naval shipyard Vallejo California. Transferred to Treasure Island Naval Station to complete out processing for my Active Naval Service in March 1970.

Re-entered Naval Reserve Community in April 1970 and assigned to Maintenance and Repair Operations duty at numerous Naval Reserve Centers throughout the US until my retirement in September 1993 at a Reserve Center in San Jose CA.
